AUBURN — The Neighbors Helping Neighbors Gospel Music Festival is coming to the DeKalb Outdoor Theater Saturday, June 20, at 7 p.m.

The concert features three Gospel music groups, The Imperials, a nationally known quartet, and local favorites Heaven Bound and The County Line Quartet.

The festival will raise money for DeKalb County food banks and St. Martin’s Clinic, a free healthcare service in Garrett that serves DeKalb County residents who do not have health insurance.

Heaven Bound, a ministry of First United Methodist Church in Auburn, organized the concert to present an evening of great Christian music and bring the community together to support the local charities, the group said.

“We invite you to support and promote this music festival that will raise money to help those who are struggling in these difficult economic times,” Heaven Bound’s members said in a news release.

The Imperials from Nashville, Tenn., have won four Grammy awards and 17 Dove awards. The Imperials have been inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

Heaven Bound has been a part of the music ministry at First United Methodist Church in Auburn since 2003. The group has supported more than 15 different mission and community projects over the past six years, locally and throughout the world.

The County Line Quartet has been together since 1994 singing the best Southern Gospel music of yesterday. They have opened for legendary groups such as J.D. Sumner and the Statesmen Quartet.

Tickets for the festival cost $5 per person and may be purchased at most Christian bookstores, DeKalb Financial Credit Union offices in Auburn, Garrett, New Haven and Angola and First United Methodist Church in Auburn. Tickets also will also be available at the gate. Children under 12 will be admitted free.

Spectators should bring blankets or chairs for seating. Parking is available on the theater grounds off Center Street and in nearby parking lots.

In case of rain, the concert will move to the DeKalb High School gymnasium.

To make additional donations to the cause, checks may be written to Heaven Bound. For more information, send e-mailto jyoder@mchsi.com This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
