To the editor:
An
occasional drizzle did not dampen the enthusiasm as approximately 200 people
enjoyed the United Way of DeKalb County’s Live United concert Friday, Aug. 28,
at the DeKalb Outdoor Theater.
A heartfelt thank you to Kent and Shelley Johnson for organizing the event, to
former Miss Indiana Megan Meadors and Josh Littlejohn for serving as co-masters
of ceremonies and to the many DeKalb County performers who entertained us. Many
traveled great distances and altered plans in support of the United Way of
DeKalb County.
This event marks the beginning of the 2009 United Way campaign season in which
local residents and businesses raise funds and create awareness for the programs
offered by 23 area social service agencies. In the truest sense, United Way is
people helping people, creating a safety net for our neighbors in need.
Please consider a contribution through an employer-sponsored campaign or by
calling the DeKalb County United Way office at 927-0995.
Thank you,
Andy and Dan Schmidt, co-chairmen
