DeKalb Outdoor Theater releases schedule for 9th season

AUBURN — Music ranging from rock to classical and a Broadway show will be showcased in the ninth season at the DeKalb Outdoor Theater.
The schedule for the theater at 301 S. Center St., Auburn, was released Wednesday.
The schedule begins with a pre-season fundraiser for the theater on Friday, May 19, at 7:30 p.m. The event will feature a Buddy Holly tribute by Ty Schultz and The Rave On Band.
The theater officially opens June 2 with Auburn’s Big Caddy Daddy band, followed on June 4 by the 38th Division Infantry Band based in Indianapolis.
Additional shows on the schedule:
• Friday, June 9 — the Auburn Community Band’s 35th anniversary concert;
• Friday, June 16 — the Fort Wayne Jazz Orchestra featuring vocalist Colleen McNabb, a DeKalb High School graduate and Angola resident;
• Saturday, June 17 — the annual Flag Day ceremony presented by the Auburn Elks Lodge;
• Friday, June 23 — the Auburn Actors Theater production of the Broadway musical “Godspell;”
• Saturday, June 24 — Zeeland Worship with Phil Joel, formerly of Newsboys;
• Friday, June 30 — the Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s annual Patriotic Pops concert.
• Friday, July 7 —Auburn’s guitarist Joey O with his Joey O Band;
• Friday, July 14 — Fort Wayne’s Farmland Jazz Band;
• Friday, July 21 — the Bulldogs play classic ’50s and ’60s rock;
• Friday, July 28 — the Christian group The Craguns;
• Saturday, July 29 — the Little Big Band;
• Friday, Aug. 4 — DeKalb County’s Grammy-nominated bluegrass musician Audie Blaylock and Redline; and
• Friday, Aug. 11 — Auburn’s classic rock group Choice.
All Friday Night Performance Series events offer free admission to the public.

The DeKalb Outdoor Theater is a private organization run by a board of directors and volunteers. Its organizational mission is “to stimulate a passion for cultural, educational and entertainment activities.”
The theater is next to the DeKalb County Fairgrounds and has ample off-street parking available. Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. Event occurs rain or shine.
Sponsorships and donations help to sustain the theater and are tax-deductible through the Community Foundation of DeKalb County, the theater organization said.
